One of my first coaches a few years ago gave me the following exercise:

I had every evening before going to bed to write down 5 things that went well for me that day or that I considered to be successful.

I remember taking a nice notebook and putting down 5 of my successes every night. I was a little surprised to discover how much I enjoyed this exercise. I actually never had any problem finding 5 things that went well for me during that day.

I still do this exercise from time to time and I would encourage you to try it.

Choose a nice notebook – you can also call it your Success Book – and make sure you are in a quite place where you feel comfortable and relaxed. Think about the things that went well for you that day and choose five.

You can put down bigger or smaller successes. Perhaps you received a praise at your work for something you did. Perhaps you kept your commitment to yourself and went to gym. Or you received a phone call from a friend who told you how much she or he appreciated your help. Or you managed to say “No” to an invitation that you deep inside did not feel very good about.

Why is it beneficial to keep track of your successes? And how does this exercise relate to all the things that you want to create in your life?

As you start focusing on your successes, you little by little train your mind to focus on the positive. As you think about and write down your successes, you naturally connect to the feelings of joy and appreciation, and your energy and mood rises. And as you do it every day, with time you will generally start feeling better, more successful and confident.

When you look into your success book, you will every time see evidence how truly successful person you are and how many things you really have to be grateful for.

As you start feeling more successful, you will attract more opportunities and events into your life that will make you feel successful. You will experience mores success! This is the basic principle of the Law of Attraction. Like attracts like.

An important thing about this exercise is consistency. Commit to doing it every day for 21 days. And be true to your commitment! If you like this exercise, you can always do it again or you can just continue doing it every day.

Try this exercise! Find a nice notebook and a pen and start. Today. Watch your success book grow and see what happens!
